Mali Akadi #2

from Bali To Mali by Catur Hari Wijaya

/

about

“Mali Akadi I” and “Mali Akadi II” are two different arrangements of the same song; being both a tribute to Malian music and to its rich soundscape.
Two sweet memories have been transcribed into the two versions; each morning in Bamako, as Catur drank his coffee while listening to the sound of the n’goni, and every Sunday, as Catur accompanied his teachers to weddings and played his djembe for the guests, for many magical hours.
“Mali Akadi I” is Catur’s interpretation of the kamalen n’goni music, the traditional Malian harp with a calabash body.
Whereas “Mali akadi II” is the transcription of the song into drums. Here, it is the djembe that is singing and celebrating the story of Catur’s fabulous adventures in Africa.
